What is a Ceramic Coating?

New and improved nano technology that the detailing industry has been going crazy over for years now! The traditional way to protect your vehicles paint was a good wax. A good wax has been used for a long time and is still used to this day. It’s still a good way to protect your paint, but the new and improved way is a ceramic coating.

To put it simply, a ceramic coating acts as an extra layer of protection on the clear-coat of the paint. Think of it as a strong layer of glass or a screen protector that protects your phone but instead is protecting your vehicles paint.

What are the benefits?

I’m sure you have heard some information on ceramic coatings at this point, and it may not all be true. Here are some realistic expectations of a ceramic coating considering you take proper care of it after application.

What can a ceramic coating not withstand?

• Ceramic coatings can be misunderstood. Although a great form of protection on your paint, it is still not the best on the market. Unlike PPF (paint protection film) a ceramic coating most likely will not protect against all swirls and scratches. Over time it can and will get imperfections. The main benefit of the coating is the Hydrophobic properties and the protection from the elements.

• The best way to get longevity out of your ceramic coating is to properly wash it. We recommend hand washing but we also understand that schedules are busy and this can’t always be a valid option, so a touch-less car wash is a valid option. A ceramic coating is not a sit it & forget it solution. Proper maintenance is a necessity.
